Dessinez une conjugaison

Image
Excellent job on your "Dessinez une conjugaison" assignment!  It was interesting to see what objects you came up with to represent your verbs.

Un excellent clip vidéo !

C'est magnifique !  Regardez le clip vidéo de Jean-Louis, Période 2.  "Conjuguer les verbes en ER"

Happy Mardi Gras!  I hope everyone is enjoying their winter break.  Enjoy this video slideshow of photos of Mardi Gras/Carnaval mask making & wearing, and eating traditional Mardi Gras/Carnaval food.

Guest Speakers!

Image
Three French 7 classes had the wonderful opportunity of listening to a guest speaker talk about life in France.  In periods 5 & 6, Ms. Maryam Moeini-Khadivi talked about the school system in France and answered questions about living in France.  In period 9, Ms. Sybil Walsh discussed living and working in rural France and how she came to learn French while she was there.  It was a relished opportunity, and I hope we have more opportunities to welcome guest speakers in the future!

Une chanson !

The French 7 song/music video extra credit project is underway!  15 students stayed after school on Monday, February 13, and wrote their own song in French about likes and dislikes.  If you'd like to get on board, I will announce the next meeting after break where we will finish up the song and talk about producing the music video!

Les mini-livres: fantastiques !

Image
I was very impressed with your mini-livres.   Not only with the French (which was excellent!), but with your illustrations, which so many of you creatively used to visually convey the meaning of your words.  Bravo!  They will be on display on the bulletin board soon, be sure to peruse them if you arrive early to class!

J'aime et je n'aime pas

Image
I enjoyed seeing what kinds of sentences you could come up with using the terms "J'aime" (I like) and "Je n'aime pas" (I don't like).  I am looking forward to seeing what creations you will come up with for your Mini-Livres for Tuesday!

Les mini-dicos !

Image
I enjoyed looking at your beautiful mini-dicos today.  Be sure to keep them at the front of your binder!  It's important to review old and new vocabulary, especially as we begin our third unit (Unité 3).  You will start to see old words used in new ways as we begin to create more sophisticated sentences. Don't forget that another great place to review vocabulary is by playing the games and activities linked on my Edline page.  Resources are categorized and subcategorized by the Unité and Leçon they are in (Introductory Resources, Unité 1 Resources, Unité 2 Resources).

Les élections en France

Image
Before Americans cast their ballots for president this fall, the French will cast theirs in April for their president.  The French vote for president every five years.  The current president, Nicolas Sarkozy (above left) is the front runner from his party, the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP), and François Hollande (above right) is the front runner from the French socialist party.  What you may find interesting is that, while there is very little coverage of French elections in the U.S. media, American presidential elections are covered quite well in France (and the rest of the world).  Below you will find some resources in English and in French to get you more acquainted with the candidates. An article about the candidates' Facebook pages Qui est Français Hollande ? Bonne année !

Image
Bonne année and welcome to the French 7 blog!  In honor of "The Adventures of Tintin"'s theatrical release, this post is about Tintin.  Tintin is a 15-year-old Belgian journalist who first appeared in comic books created by Hergé, followed by a television series and now a feature film.  He is always accompanied by his dog Milou (Snowy in English) who helps him solve mysteries.  If you're planning to go see the Tintin movie in theaters, you may wish to do a little research on the character beforehand.  Here are some fun sites in French for you to explore!
