Les questions et les réponses

Image
Recently, students shared a hobby or pastime in French on a shared PowerPoint, then their classmates asked them questions about it.  Students answered the questions, then we played a trivia game where I asked the class questions about a student's hobby and the students had to figure out what the answer was by looking at their slide.  Here are some of the completed slides: If you'd like to receive more updates from Mlle Decker's classroom, subscribe by email!  Please watch for an email from Feedburner, through which you will need to verify your email address.  You can unsubscribe at any time. ABC Book YouTube Video

Image
Recently I shared the ABC Books that each class made.  After the books were completed, the 8th graders voted on their favorite, and by a slim margin, 6th period's book won!  That book was made into a narrated YouTube.  Thank you to Lily in period 5 and her sister, as well as 8th grader Maddie, for providing their narration talents!  The video came out great. Note to students :  Currently the images on my blog are being blocked on the web filter.  You may need to view this blog post at home on a person device in order to see them.  I apologize for the inconvenience! Recently students wrote poems using words and phrases in French they recently learned! First, they wrote poems about themselves.  Here are some examples: Next, students wrote a poem for someone they appreciate and sent it to that person. ABC Books

I am reposting this because I recently realized that 4 of the 5 ABC books were blocked because I didn't make them public! Recently each class made an ABC book in French.  They worked across cohorts on Zoom and PowerPoint to collaborate on this project.  Each class picked a theme and then in small groups wrote a sentence featuring a verb or activity they had learned how to say.  Then students worked on illustrations for each page.  The five resulting books have been sent to the 8th grade students and they will vote on their favorite.  That book will get made into a narrative video to be published on YouTube!  Here are the five classes' books: If you'd like to receive more updates from Mlle Decker's classroom, subscribe by email!  Please watch for an email from Feedburner, through which you will need to verify your email address.  You can unsubscribe at any time. Les adjectifs positifs

Image
Recently students left kind words and compliments for one another using a shared PowerPoint! This helped them practice the adjectives they had recently learned as well as brighten each other’s day! Students were encouraged to save their slide so they could look back at it later. Using Drawings to Show Understanding

Image
In French class we try to avoid using English wherever possible when showing understanding.  That's why students are often asked to draw a phrase or sentence they see written or hear spoken to them.  Not too long ago we used mini whiteboards to accomplish, but now that every student has a device, students complete their drawings right on their devices on sites such as Nearpod and Classkick.  The goal is not to create museum-worthy artwork, but demonstrate an understanding of the content without using English.  Here are some excellent examples!
