Mardi Gras !

Image
Before break we celebrated Mardi Gras with authentic food, music, and costumes. Here are some photos from the day. One student brought in gumbo, a Louisianian stew. The galette des rois is festive in the official Mardi Gras colors! Mmm, beignets ! A creative mask! Another galette des rois. Students who brought in food for their class.

Quels artistes !

Look at some of the artistic things we have been doing in class! Normally I ask students not to draw on the whiteboards, but for this activity, they drew a picture based on a description in French of the weather. Students had fun drawing monsters based on my commands in French! Students made crazy creatures to help them learn the parts of the body!

Les Crêpes!

On February 2, we celebrated La Chandeleur in class, which is a French holiday similar to Groundhog Day.  We enjoyed crêpes, a common treat on this day.  Thank you to the Maple Avenue Parent Network for funding this event! Flipping crêpes is a Chandeleur tradition!
